Local Leveller scheme launched in Earlsfield to raise funds for fuel vouchers for Foodbank guests this winter.
As the energy crisis continues the need for local action is clear, community helping others in the community. The ‘Local Leveller’ scheme has been devised for local people to donate some or all of the £400 government energy rebate being sent to every household, to be redistributed to Earlsfield Foodbank guests as fuel vouchers via the ‘e-vouchers’ scheme.
Every household will receive the £400 government energy rebate, but some need it more than others. Some are in severe need and in danger if they are incapable or unable to afford heating for themselves and their families. There are over 400 households using the Earlsfield foodbank and we expect that to rise considerably over the winter months.
Earlsfield Foodbank is set up to help those in need. It is a registered charity, as is the body which we are using to collect the donation, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The fuel vouchers can be used for all types of energy payments and come from e-vouchers, who have vast experience with school vouchers, working with over 20,000 education institutions.
We are hoping to raise £20,000, which will be redistributed to Earlsfield Foodbank guests via the ‘e-vouchers’ scheme. Everyone’s personal circumstances are different; some have pledged to give the entire rebate to those most in need, but if you can afford to give only a little of the rebate, that is fine, it all counts.
We have tried to make our scheme as simple as possible so that people and organisations in other areas who want to do the same can simply adapt it to their local circumstances.
