Our People
Guest Stories
We refer to the people who receive our help as ‘guests’, as they are warmly invited to use our services when they need to. Read more about some of our guests here.
Charlie’s Story
Charlie and his family were struggling to afford food, due to a large amount of debt which had built up after Charlie had to stop work due to ill-health.
Charlie signed up with us, and for four months received food weekly. This was enough time to clear the debt and get back on track.
Now Charlie has enough to get by without us, and is hoping to return to work soon after this difficult period.

Helen’s Story
Helen started volunteering with us during the first Covid lockdown, following a street collection for the Foodbank which she dropped off at the church for us. She was amazed to find the church full of provisions for local people, along with Home Cafe cooking meals for people in need in the local community, and signed up to be a volunteer on the spot!
She started out as a delivery driver on Thursday mornings, but was soon asked to help on Wednesday afternoons instead, packing bags for the increasing number of deliveries being made. She is now part of the Thursday morning team, and can be found welcoming the guests and taking the details of what they need this week.
Helen says,
“Volunteering with the Foodbank is a fun and worthwhile thing to do, and I really enjoy it. It gives me real satisfaction to know that I’m helping to support people in the local community, and I’ve made loads of new local friends too!”
